I am a beneficiary of the Land Reform Program who was allocated a sugarcane plot measuring
20,3 Ha in 2003. Previously, I was employed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care as a Nurse/ Midwife and I opted for early retirement at the age of 56 to be a full-time farmer in 2016.
Between 2003 and 2015, my yields ranged between 65 – 75 tonnes per hectare. I attended a two year course on sugarcane production with ZSAES from 2017 to 2018 and I benefitted a lot. By practicing good agronomic practices, yields went up to 90 to 120 tonnes per hectare. Farming is a profitable business if one practices the best agronomic models. For me it was a game changer. As a family, team work is our motto.
ACHIEVEMENT 2024
- Completed a beautiful 12 roomed house in the low density suburbs sitting on 4070m2
- Deposited a one hectare plot earmarked for piggery and poultry projects.
- Constructed a 480 metre feeder canal
With honesty and hard work, the National Vision of 2030 is very much achievable.
Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.
